Top things to do in Cape Town this April
It might officially be Autumn, but here in Cape Town we still have a few more long, sunny days ahead of us. Before we whip out the scarves, coats and start planning indoor activities why not enjoy the crisp autumn days that will inevitably turn into a beach day by 12 midday. Here is a list of “summery” things we can still enjoy this month.
We are blessed with some of the most amazing beaches in the world, all with exquisite views. Soaking up the sun in your latest designer bikini next to models playing frisbee sound like your ideal beach day? Then hit Clifton beach. Prefer a quieter spot with the most instagrammable views ever? Then pop down to Beta Beach. Feeling bold and want an all over tan, then maybe nudist beach Sandy Bay is more your thing. Otherwise, jump in the car and drive along the gorgeous Clarence Drive to Cool Bay.
Lions Head Hike
In order to call yourself a Capetonian, you need to have checked this off of your list. The Lions Head hikeis not only a right of passage but also one of the most beautiful hikes in South Africa. Taking only approximately an hour or two to get both up and down again, depending on your fitness level, this moderate mostly flat walk is the perfect way to get your daily exercise in all while taking in the full view of Cape Town.
Galileo Outdoor Cinema
You might want to take a warm top but with blankets provided and plenty of wine on offer you’ll still feel cosy and snug as you watch the big screen outdoors in a beautiful setting. From the Quarry, to the Waterfront and with some viewing places even on wine farms whichever venue you choose it’ll bound to be a unique fun evening. This is the perfect choice for date night under the stars! (View shows and venue listings here).
Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts
No more Sunday blues, if it is summer in Cape Town you’ll find that most people spent their Sunday evening sprawled out on a blanket watching our local talent at a Kirstenbosch Summer Concert event. While most have already performed, this Sunday you will still have a chance to see Shortstraw/Al Bairre perform. To learn more about the event click here.
Winelands Root 44 Market
What would a list about things to do in Cape Town be without including a market. Yes, we are inundated with options when it comes to them but since the days are still golden why not take a drive out into the Winelands and spend the day at the Root 44 market. Open every Saturday and Sunday no matter what the weather is. With its bustling displays, delicious array of food and live music outside it’s the ultimate market to relax and unwind at.
