Winter Dining at Marigold

Marigold evokes the exotic with a menu inspired by aromatic and spicy North Indian cuisine.

Seasoned Chef Vanie Padayachee, who hails from Durban, has been on the opening teams of various restaurants and a cookery school in South Africa, and was most recently part of the Le Quartier Français culinary team. Vanie, whose style of cuisine is influenced by the rich diversity of cultures found in South Africa, is an expert at tempering and blending spices. She visited India to experience the culture and cuisine firsthand, bringing to Marigold’s offering authenticity and a tangible reference to its origins. Marigold specialises in a variety of Indian dishes, from fragrant curries and flavourful biryanis to succulent meat cooked in the charcoal tandoor.

There are also plenty of vegetarian and vegan options available but no matter what you choose your taste buds will be delighted by this authentic warming Indian cuisine.

Also don’t even think about it, just order the Palak Chaat as one of your starters. It is addictively good. This crispy spinach leaves dish dipped in gram flour batter topped with sweetened curd, tamarind, chilli and onion may be a started but order the larger option as the table will be begging for more.

On a side note: Marigold, is supporting Franschhoek SPCA’s domestic animal sterilisation project with a view to the sterilising of 500 animals in the next 12 months. To support this initiative, a voluntary contribution of R10 will be added to your table’s bill.
