Fleur du Cap hits the high notes in Cabernet Sauvignon Report

Fleur du Cap has made the cut as a top South African Cabernet Sauvignon with a rating of 90 points in the 2016 Prescient Cabernet Sauvignon Report.

Shooting the lights out with its top tier ranking, Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 was one of 12 wines rated 90 points or more.

“Cassis and pencil shavings on the nose. A great core of fruit with fresh acidity and firm but fine tannins. Very pure and long,” is how Christian Eedes, chairman of the tasting panel, describes the wine in his report.

The wine, crafted at Die Bergkelder from three Stellenbosch vineyards, was matured for 19 months in French oak barrels. An absolute expression of regional excellence and fruit purity, this acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon represents the epitome of cellarmaster Wim Truter’s winemaking philosophy.

The Fleur du Cap team is in the enviable position of seeking out the pick of the crop from parcels of exceptional site-specific vineyards that lend complexity and sought-after varietal character to their wines. Making sure that the team crafts these wines with the right building blocks, viticulturist Annelie Viljoen works hand in glove with a close network of grape producers throughout the Western Cape.

Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 is available at boutique wine shops and fine dining establishments and sells for R144 at the cellar door at Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch. It is also available for purchase online at www.vinoteque.co.za.
